There are a number of programs available to families of children at the INN:

Support for Children and their Families
A parent/caregiver support group is held every Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This group meets in the family room on the fifth floor and is co-led by INN social workers Ruth Goodman and Heather Wishman. These meetings provide an opportunity for informal discussions, problem-solving and the sharing of ideas for coping with this stressful time.

"Family to Family at the INN" is a special program that offers newly-diagnosed families an opportunity to talk with another family that has experienced a similar diagnosis. If you would like to make this connection, please call Ruth Goodman at (212) 870-9166.

Making Headway Foundation, Inc.: A family support service offering services to children and their families with chronic neurolgic disorders. 35 Alpine Lane, Chappaqua, NY 10514 Tel: 914-238-8384, Fax: 914-238-1693

Pastoral Care for our Patients and Their Families
You do not have to belong to a congregation or even consider yourself religious to call on a chaplain. We will gladly visit you or your loved ones if you think we might be helpful. We are available to pray with and for you. All chaplains can be reached by (212) 870-9270 at anytime. A menu of options will guide you to the person or service you need. An on-call chaplain is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Prayer Group is a non-denominational gathering that takes place every Friday (in the 10th floor playroom) from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Patients, families, visitors and staff are invited to participate.

Community Clergy
The Beth Israel Medical Center chaplains encourage visits by your own clergy person and would be glad to assist them in any way possible.

Chai Lifeline
An orthodox Jewish organization, Chai Lifeline is available to sit at the bedside of patients of all denominations so that parents or family members may leave the hospital to take care of other needs. The organization also provides services to meet specific Jewish religious requirements. Chai Lifeline generously re-stocks the kosher refrigerator in the 10th floor lounge for the convenience of families who strictly observe Jewish dietary laws. Please call (212) 255-1160 and speak to Esther Schwartz or Raisy Goldberger.
